A crumbling rural road is putting cars out of action and causing mounting repair bills, according to a resident.
The road, which runs between Langstone and Llanwern, has been plagued by potholes for many years but residents' patience is starting to run thin after repeated damage has left them frustrated and out of pocket.
Hywel Thomas, 44, who lives nearby, said: "It has been a problem for years, and we have had cracked wheels and numerous blow outs, we’ve had so much work done on the vehicles.

"I know it's not the busiest road in the world and there are priorities, but it's got to the point where I've got a cracked suspension spring and my wife's gear linkages have been knocked out in the car".

Mr Thomas explained that as it is quite a rural area, people are incredibly reliant on their cars.
He said: "We're so reliant on [our cars], you can't just walk to the shop, and my daughter goes to school in Langstone - there's not really another way to go".

He added: "We pay a lot of tax and we are sick of it".
Mr Thomas also explained how he has been all around the UK in the last couple of years, and he has "never seen anything as bad".

The South Wales Argus contacted Newport City Council.
A spokesperson for Newport City Council said: "Langstone Lane and Langstone Court Road are maintained in accordance with the council’s Highway Maintenance Manual (HMM) and the council’s Highway Asset Management Plan (HAMP).
"Due to their hierarchy, both roads are subject to annual safety inspections. Any reportable defects identified during these inspections are scheduled for repair in line with the council’s HMM and HAMP.
"We understand and share residents’ frustrations with our roads, which is why as part of our 2026-27 budget, we committed significant resources to fixing our roads, allocating a further £12m to our Fixing Our Roads programme, while also increasing our annual highways maintenance budget".
The Council is also urging people to report potholes, highway defects or any other problems via their website.
