A cyclist has been taken to hospital after an incident closed a road in Aberbargoed for several hours earlier on June 17.

The road was shut between Bedwellty Road and Neuaddwen Street while emergency services attended the scene, causing traffic delays and congestion throughout the area.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "The road was closed due to a cyclist coming off their bike at about 11.30am.

"They were taken to hospital for treatment by the ambulance service."

Diversions were put in place while the incident was dealt with and motorists were advised by police to avoid the area and use different routes if possible.

Gwent Police confirmed the road was reopen at 1.50pm, and that there was no further police involvement at this stage.
