In court from Newport, Caerphilly, Cwmbran, and Blackwood

Rhys Alwyn Voyle, 44, of Brambling Crescent, Penallta, Hengoed, was charged with speeding in a temporary 50mph limit on the M4.

Voyle was clocked driving at 57mph westbound at junction 19 in south Gloucestershire on February 12 this year.

He pleaded guilty and was handed a six-month driving ban after accumulating too many points.

He also received a £666 fine, and was ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £266 victim surcharge.

Morgan Hanford, 33, of Newport, was convicted of assault by beating and a public order offence.

The offences took place on June 18 in Newport.

Hanford, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to both assault by beating and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £25 compensation to the assault victim.

John Linton, 30, of Colston Avenue, Newport, was convicted of assault by beating.

The offence occurred on May 29 in Cardiff.

Linton pleaded guilty to the charge, and was fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 compensation to the victim.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs.

Mitchell Dyke, 30, of Howard Drive, Caerphilly, was convicted of breaching a restraining order.

On July 8, Dyke contacted a woman in Abertridwr, which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order imposed by Cardiff Crown Court on February 26, 2024.

He indicated a guilty plea at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on July 10 and his sentence was deemed served due to time already spent in custody.

No order for costs was made.

Aaron Morgan, 36, of Wye Court, Thornhill, Cwmbran, was convicted of criminal damage.

On May 29, at Cardiff Bay Police Station, Morgan damaged a police van and holding cell belonging to South Wales Police.

The value of the damage was unknown.

Morgan pleaded guilty, and was handed an 18-month conditional discharge.

Morgan was also ordered to pay £150 in compensation and £85 in costs.

Michael Russell, 38, of Cwrt y Coed, Blackwood, was convicted of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.

Russell was driving a Mercedes A180 on High Street in Blackwood on November 14, 2025 when he caused a man serious injury. 

The court heard he was driving without due care and attention.

He pleaded guilty, and was made subject to a 12-month community order.

Russell must complete 40 hours of unpaid work, was disqualified from driving for 12 months, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 surcharge.
