Police officers are looking into the circumstances of a death after a woman was found in a flat yesterday, July 19.

The body of a woman was found at a flat in Commercial Road, Crumlin after police received a call at approximately 11.50am.

Gwent Police confirmed that enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the circumstances of the "unexplained" death. 

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "A call came in at about 11.50am on Sunday reporting that the body of a woman had been found in a flat in Commercial Road in Crumlin.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing into the circumstances of the death which is unexplained at the moment".

A resident told the South Wales Argus there was a heavy emergency services presence at the scene throughout yesterday.

They said: "Police, forensics, CID, and paramedics have been there since 8am this morning (July 19).

"They are still there now at 11pm; police have not given residents any information, but [there has been a] heavy police presence".

They also reported that people living in the flats were not allowed to go in or out of the building.
