A dad has completed a 26-mile run to raise funds for his son’s football team.
Jake Wainwright, from Newport, ran from Newport to Barry Island Pleasure Park on Sunday, August 30, raising nearly £1,200 for Newport Saints U6s, a newly formed youth team.
He finished the run in 4 hours and 20 minutes, beating his personal target of five hours.
The young players and their families were waiting for him at the finish line to cheer him home.
Coaches and dads from Newport Saints supported Mr Wainwright throughout the challenge, cycling alongside him and offering encouragement along the route.
Despite the tough distance, he pushed through in hopes of raising as much as possible for the team.
The funds will help support the under-6s as they begin their football journey.
His effort has brought the club together and highlighted the strong community spirit behind the team.
Coaches, parents, and players have all expressed their gratitude.
His achievement has united the team and reinforced the value of community support in grassroots football.
