Festival of Hope to celebrate 10 years of recovery

The Festival of Hope will take place on Saturday, September 12, at Victory Church in Cwmbran, to celebrate a decade of restored lives through Hope Centre Ministries’ Christ-centred recovery programme.

Hope Centre Ministries UK supports men and women overcoming addiction and trauma, offering a structured residential programme that addresses both surface behaviours and deeper emotional wounds.

Clyde Thomas, UK director of Hope Centre Ministries, said: "Ten years ago, we established Hope Centre Ministries to end addiction and its devastating effects on people and their families.

"As a Christ-centred recovery programme, we have seen hundreds of lives restored, families reunited, and futures rewritten.

"We have grown from one home to four, and we are only just getting started.

"Our vision is to take hope across the UK and transform communities, one life at a time.

"Addiction does not have to be the end of the story… there is always hope."

Since launching in 2016, the charity has supported more than 600 men and women.

All of its recovery homes are now led by graduates of the programme.

The anniversary event will include a community festival with a firewalk and glasswalk, live music, stage performances, food stalls, fireworks, and family activities including bouncies and soft play.

One hundred places are available for the firewalk, described by organisers as a "powerful symbolic challenge representing courage, breakthrough, and stepping into new life".

Each participant will raise sponsorship to support Hope Centre Ministries’ work, with a fundraising target of £10,000.

Organisers said: "Every one of our firewalkers is walking not just through fire, but towards hope, collecting sponsorship that goes entirely towards Hope Centre Ministries and the vital work of restoring lives torn apart by hardship.

"Every penny raised, every pound pledged, becomes a lifeline for someone who has nowhere else to turn."

The festival will also honour the resilience of those who have journeyed from addiction to freedom and will promote the ongoing need for recovery services across Wales.
