A historic Welsh building is set to celebrate its 120th anniversary with a special open day.
Llanhilleth Miners’ Institute is inviting both locals and visitors to its free event, scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 11am to 3pm.
The day will celebrate the institute's rich heritage, with the theme 120 Years of Heritage, Community and Legacy.
Visitors will have the chance to explore the historic building and learn more about its past.
The event promises a programme packed with activities, including live brass band performances, choir singing, children's activities, exhibitions, and traditional cream teas.
The open day is part of the wider CADW Open Doors celebration, an initiative that allows the public to explore and enjoy buildings of historical and architectural significance.
Since 1906, Llanhilleth Miners’ Institute has been a central part of the community, providing a place for entertainment, education, culture, and community life.
The 120th anniversary offers a chance to reflect on the institute's history and celebrate the people, organisations, and communities that continue to contribute to its special place in Llanhilleth today.

A spokesperson for the institute said: "Our 120th anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to open our doors and invite everyone to come and experience Llanhilleth Miners’ Institute for themselves.
"This building has been part of the lives of generations of local people, and we want to celebrate that history while looking forward to its future.
"Whether you’ve never visited before or have memories of spending time here over the years, everyone is welcome."
