Two men have been arrested following proactive patrols in Cwmbran, according to Gwent Police.
The patrols were carried out by officers from the community action team in the Southville area of Cwmbran on Tuesday evening, September 1.
The patrols were described as "proactive" by Gwent Police.
A 46-year-old man from the Cwmbran area was arrested and charged with 11 theft offences and has been remanded to appear in court.
A 55-year-old man from Pontypool was arrested for three outstanding theft offences, and for failing to appear in court for other matters.
The 55-year-old man remains in custody.
A 53-year-old man, also from the Cwmbran area, was stop-searched by officers under the Misuse of Drugs Act and found in possession of cannabis.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "Officers from our Community Action Team made two arrests whilst carrying out proactive patrols in the Southville area of Cwmbran.
"A 46 year old male, from the Cwmbran area was arrested for multiple shoplifting offences.
"He has since been charged with 11 x Theft offences.
"He has been remanded to court in the morning.
"A 55 year old male, from the Pontypool area was arrested for 3 x outstanding theft offences and was also wanted for failing to appear at court for other matters.
"He remains in custody at this time.
"Whilst in the area, officers also stop searched a 53 year old male from Cwmbran area under the misuse of drugs act.
"The male was found in possession of Class B Cannabis".
