New exhibition at the Cwtsh - La Casa Forestal by Mabel Ros
Mabel is a Spanish artist based in Chepstow.
She trained in graphic design and animation before obtaining a BA(Hons) in Art History and Creative Writing from the Open University.
Her life experiences and travels inspire her imagination in the creation of illustrated stories and paintings.
These are often windows to comforting dream places and treetops in 'La Casa Forestal'.
The exhibition launches Friday, September 5 and runs until September 27.
This is what John Briggs, Cwtsh exhibitions organiser, has to say about the forthcoming exhibition: “Cwtsh Gallery's exhibition programme is about to resume after the long, hot Welsh summer.
"We are therefore delighted to present, for our September exhibition, 'La Casa Forestal' by Mabel Ros.
"Mabel is a Spanish artist who has lived in Wales for seven years and is based in Chepstow.
"In addition to her previous background in graphic design and animation in Spain, Mabel also holds a BA(Hons) in Art History and Creative Writing from the Open University.
"It is now our pleasure to introduce her to the art scene in Newport.
"'La Casa Forestal' is where her imagination lives, in a mountain range composed of travel, life memories, fiction, and dreams.
"Her sources and media might be a Saudi Arabian desert road in ink, a literary classic illustrated in watercolour, her family home painted in gouache, a hazy Turkish bathhouse in acrylic, or an ancient Egyptian temple.
"'La Casa Forestal' is an enchanting prospect sure to please art lovers of all ages.
"Mabel will be delighted to welcome you to the opening evening of her exhibition on Saturday, September 5, 6-8pm.
"As always at the Cwtsh, refreshments and nibbles plus the usual welcoming buzz await all our guests.
