A man in his 20s was taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing in a Newport residential street in front of children.
Gwent Police were called to Playford Crescent in Ringland at around 6.15pm on Thursday, September 3, following reports of an altercation.
A witness, who has asked to remain anonymous, said the incident followed a dispute involving children playing in a car park.
They say the incident started just after 5pm with the alleged stabbing happening at about 6.15pm. At the time of the incident, children were playing in a car park and it's claimed a man started threatening them. A young man in his early 20s came out of his house to make sure the children were okay. The incident escalated with the younger man being stabbed in the arm, it is claimed.
Police have not confirmed that a stabbing took place and have described the incident as "an altercation".
The witness said the incident happened in broad daylight with a number of children nearby.

They said: “This happened in broad daylight in front of lots of kids.
“There were about four police cars there, maybe more. It went on for about two hours.”
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We received a report of an altercation on Playford Crescent, Newport, at around 6.15pm on Thursday 3 September.
“Officers attended, and a man in his 20s was later taken to hospital after sustaining an injury to his arm.
“Enquiries are underway to further understand the circumstances surrounding the altercation.”
