A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent after an alleged stabbing in Newport which left a man in his 20s in hospital.
Gwent Police confirmed the arrest on Friday afternoon following an altercation on Playford Crescent, Ringland, at around 6.15pm on Thursday, September 3.
The teenager, from Newport, has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a Class A controlled drug, cocaine.
He remains in police custody.
The arrest comes after a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with an injury to his arm following the incident.
A witness previously told the South Wales Argus that the altercation followed a dispute involving children who were playing in a car park.
They claimed the incident began shortly after 5pm before escalating at around 6.15pm.

The witness alleged that a man had been threatening children before a younger man, aged in his early 20s, came out of his home to check they were okay.
They claimed the younger man was then stabbed in the arm.
Police have not confirmed that a stabbing took place and have continued to describe what happened as an "altercation".
The witness said: “This happened in broad daylight in front of lots of kids.
“There were about four police cars there, maybe more. It went on for about two hours.”
In its latest update, a spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “Officers investigating an altercation that took place on Playford Crescent, Newport, at around 6.15pm on Thursday 3 September have made an arrest.
“A 16-year-old boy from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 - wounding with intent and possession of a controlled drug of class A - cocaine.
“He remains in police custody at this time.”
Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
