A long-standing business is celebrating a fresh achievement as it marks nearly three decades of serving the community.
Indian Summer, believed to have been the first Indian takeaway in Monmouth, has been awarded a food hygiene rating of four following its most recent inspection in September 2026.
Located in Agincourt Square and established in 1999, the business has become a staple of Monmouth’s food scene and a source of pride for its owner, Mohon Uddin.
Mr Uddin said: "For 27 years, Indian Summer has been an integral part of my life, shaping my experiences and memories.
"During my teenage years, I began working for Indian Summer, and it has since been a significant influence on my life's journey."

He credited his mentor, Shaz, for helping to guide his early career.
Mr Uddin said: "Shaz, my mentor at Indian Summer, has played a pivotal role in guiding and shaping my path, and I am forever grateful for the invaluable opportunity."
Over the years, Indian Summer has seen Monmouth and the wider food industry change dramatically.
Despite growing competition, Mr Uddin said the loyalty of customers has remained a constant source of motivation.
He said that one of the most rewarding parts of running the takeaway has been serving customers across generations.
Mr Uddin said: "Now, I have the privilege of serving customers who were once teenagers themselves, and have now transitioned into parenthood and grandparenthood."
The four-star food hygiene rating reflects high standards in food handling, cleanliness, and safety management.
While pleased with the recognition, Mr Uddin said that community support means more to him than any formal award.
He said: "Despite the emergence of numerous Indian establishments over the last 27 years, I take immense pride in being the first Indian takeaway in Monmouth, standing resilient and unwavering.
"While accolades may come and go, what truly holds significance is the enduring support of the local community."
Indian Summer continues to serve customers from Monmouth and the surrounding area.
For Mr Uddin, the business represents more than just work—it is a place filled with memories, friendships, and connections built over nearly three decades of service.
