GAZEBO: AM Nick Ramsay will be opening the new gazebo at Usk Castle in a ceremony on Saturday, October 11.
“We are delighted that Nick has agreed to perform this ceremony for us,” said Virginia Hoselitz, chairman of Usk Castle Friends, the organisation which funded the gazebo. “This is a much-needed addition to the castle, particularly in view of the atrocious weather we’ve had this summer. It will enable visitors to enjoy the castle even if it’s pouring down outside. The new addition to the castle’s facilities has been erected in wood from sustainable sources, in keeping with the ethos that drives everything at the castle.
“We are very grateful that the Friends have given us this great facility,” said Rosie Humphreys of Usk Castle. “The castle is a registered charity and is at the start of a major fundraising effort to maintain it and stop it from crumbling.”
The gazebo proved its worth when a painting day was held and those taking part had shelter from the rain. Lesley Flynn
