CAUSED DEATHS: Edwin Woods
An 81-year-old war veteran was today fined £1,000 for killing two elderly friends by ploughing into them in his BMW.
Edwin Woods was driving to an opticians to collect a pair of glasses when he was dazzled by the sun, striking Doreen Morgan, 74, and 73-year-old Sylvia Softley.
The pair, returning to their OAP apartments in Oakfield, Cwmbran, from a nearby chip shop, suffered multiple injuries in the October 3 accident and died later in hospital.
Woods, of Oakfield Road, Oakfield, Cwmbran admitted two counts of causing death by driving without due care and attention at Abergavenny Magistrates' Court.
