POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted armed robbery in Newport.
A man in his 20s tried to rob the Londis store on Chepstow Road, close to the junction with Wharf Road, at around 7.25pm on Thursday.
The man is around six feet tall, slim build, wearing blue sport-type clothing and spoke in a local accent.
This is the second attempted armed robbery in Gwent this week. Officers were called to Risca post office on Wednesday afternoon when a man threaten the owners with a gun.
