POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was hit by a car on Friday night in Abertillery.
The pedestrian was walking with one other person along Castle Street behind Tesco supermarket near the 30mph speed limit approaching the town when he was struck down.
They were walking from the Railway public house area towards Warm Turn when at the time.
The man was hit at around 12.25am on Friday night by a red Ford Focus Estate car and sustained serious injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics attended the scene a took one man to the Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
Anyone who witnessed the road traffic collision or saw the pedestrians in the location near the time of the incident is asked to call Gwent Police on 01633 838111 or call the collision investigation unit direct on 01633 643091.
