A CWMBRAN theatre group says its latest production of My Fair Lady could be its last if it fails to draw in the crowds.
Cwmbran Woodand Players member Alec Birchley, says the rising costs of hiring equipment, costumes, the theatre and practice space for a production totals around £10,000 and the group is struggling to meet costs.
He said: “It really is a make or break situation for us now. If we cannot make this show work we will not have the funds for the future.”
The group, made up of around thirty members aged from nine upwards, has been running for almost 40 years and performs a musical and Christmas pantomime annually.
Mr Birchley said it would be a shame if the group was no longer able to put on shows, given its long history, and is urging people to support its latest production.
My Fair Lady runs from September 8 to 12 at the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran.
