The British and Irish Lions completed their midweek schedule with a 100% record after provincial heavyweights Auckland were swept aside 17-13.
In the wake of the Test team's comprehensive rout by the All Blacks, the 'dirt-trackers' were asked to restore some pride at the expense of a side with a proud record against the Lions - and they delivered.
Wales flanker Martyn Williams crossed for their only try, while Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara booted nine points in a tense encounter which was thrown wide open by Isa Nacewa's 62nd-minute touchdown.
