WALES coach Mike Ruddock is considering giving Gavin Henson, hero of Saturday's mouth-watering victory over England, the kicks on a regular basis.

Ruddock will talk with his fellow selectors this week and high on the agenda ahead of their next Six Nations game against Italy in Rome this Saturday will be the identity of the number one kicker.

Stephen Jones has been the first choice, but missed a few during the Autumn internationals and was off target three times against England whereas Henson landed the crucial 45 yard penalty which gave an ecstatic Welsh team their first victory over England in Cardiff for 12 years.

It was Henson's Six Nations debut and it was his first kick at goal with only four minutes remaining, but he admitted he never thought he would miss.

"Stephen is a proven international kicker and has kicked a long time for Wales whereas Gavin has just stepped into the team," explained Ruddock.

"It might be time to review our strategy, it's something we'll talk about in selection this week."

The supremely self confident- Henson- he joked to a TV cameraman yesterday "No close-ups please,"- says he will be able to handle all the hype which will inevitably accompany his arrival on the world stage.

"There has been a lot of Press coverage and we put cuttings up on the wall in the dressing room. All the Press was on me and it was all over the wall, but I was really confident," he said.

"The management put me in these media things because I'm a confident person and I always say we're going to win.

"I don't mind all the hype, it doesn't phase me at all. The more pressure on me the more I want to win.

"We needed that victory, hopefully we'll go on a run now and win something."
