Huw Edwards Labour

I am pleased to write to you and outline why I want your support on May 5. I have been proud to serve people of the Monmouth constituency for the last nine years and I want to continue to be the strong voice in Westminster. I have set out a clear vision for the Monmouth constituency over the next four years:

To ensure we continue to have a stable economy with low interest rates and low inflation which benefits homeowners and those in work.

To continue to put more resources into local schools to help every child fulfil their potential.

To ensure that our NHS continues to receive the investment it deserves EURO " not cuts and privatisation under the Tories.

Help hard-working families through quality, affordable childcare and tax credits EURO " support which would be under threat from a Tory government.

To protect our local environment, Monmouthshire EURO TMs beautiful countryside and support the farming community.

This is a vital General Election and I urge you to vote Labour. Why?

Because I believe you have seen improvements in recent years and want to see more achieved in the future. Standards in education are rising but we must campaign to keep successful schools open. We have good local hospitals, but more must be done to reduce waiting-times and improve public health; much has been done for our 9,000 carers but they need more resources to care for loved ones; there have been more police officers and crime has fallen but measures to combat anti-social behaviour must be used more effectively, and too many people, especially young people, fear violent attacks.

These are my commitments to people in the Monmouth Constituency:

I will work full-time as MP; hold regular surgeries and keep a full-time constituency office.

I will continue to work to save local schools from closure.

I want to do more to support local businesses and help promote the creative and musical talents of local people.

* I want to do more to promote the cultural, sporting and religious traditions of the Monmouth constituency.

* I will do more to help promote a fairer society and social justice at home and abroad.

So much has been achieved since Labour came to power in 1997, I want to continue to represent the people in these beautiful areas EURO " taking them forward, not back.
