GWENT'S David Harrison, pictured, has only taken one county championship wicket for Glamorgan so far this season, and averages just 9.66 with the bat, but Michael Kasprowicz believes he is an England all-rounder in waiting.

The Australian paceman, who is not at Sophia Gardens this summer because he is a member of his country's Ashes squad, has been a long time member of the Panteg product's fan club and believes Glamorgan will reap the rewards of his winter with the England A side in Sri Lanka.

"Dave Harrison should continue to develop and blossom at Glamorgan this year," Kasprowicz told the Argus. "He should have an even better season with the ball than last year and there is no reason why he can't score a 1000 runs a season with the bat. He is a superb cricketer who has the ability to play for England as an all-rounder. I have said that for a while now."

Harrison was a late one-day replacement for Simon Jones last week when his 3-25 destroyed Nottinghamshire's top order batting to give Glamorgan their first victory in of the 2005 season in the totesport League.

"Dave hits the deck hard and takes wickets," Kasprowicz said. "I'm sure he'll have a good season."

Looking ahead to this summer Kasprowicz, now firmly established ahead of Brett Lee as one of Australia's fab four front-line bowlers, is expecting a tough series against an England searching for its first Ashes triumph for two decades.

"England have been playing well as a unit which breeds a lot of confidence within the team and they have plenty of talented individuals," Kasprowicz said.

"They are on their own turf and they'll be tough to beat in both the one-day series and in the Ashes. It's sure to be a challenging series."
