RENAULT'S funky supermini Modus has been enjoying huge success since its launch last September with over 8,000 registrations and even more orders as well as rave reviews from Press and public alike. Now for those who want the ultimate in chic but powerful small cars, the Modus Initiale brings a touch of luxury to the supermini sector and a new more powerful Euro IV compliant engine for the range, a 1.5 dCi 106 which comes complete with an all-new six-speed manual gearbox. Modus Initiale follows in the Renault tradition of small luxury cars like the Renault 5 Monaco and Bacarra and Clio Initiale.

The word luxury and supermini don't often go hand in hand, however with New Modus Initiale customers may be surprised that they will actually get more standard equipment than a Jaguar XJ6 3.0 costing more than £39,000! Out of a list of 26 pieces of equipment, only three are not standard on Modus Initiale compared to eight on the Jaguar. Modus Initiale is based on the high spec existing Privilge trim but is bolstered with a wide range of additional standard features.

The luxurious feel of Modus Initiale is reflected in the interior trim with beige leather Initiale upholstery and door panel inserts adding to the stylish ambience. Comfort inside Modus Initiale is assured with climate control fitted as standard. The exterior is not forgotten either with metallic paint, 16i Initiale alloy wheels and exclusive Initiale door sill kickplates and badging on the front door rubbing strips all part of the standard kit.

Also included is cruise control, speed limiter, carpet mats and Xenon 'Double Distance' headlamps with headlamp wash and carpet mats. If luxury also now equals effortless diesel power, and for many it does, then with the addition of the smooth and quiet 1.5 dCi engine with its six-speed manual gearbox developed jointly by Renault and Nissan, customers are now guaranteed the performance usually associated with a much larger, executive vehicle.

At end-February 2005, Renault had sold more than 92,000 Modus in Western Europe since its launch in September 2004. Modus has rapidly won a place on the European market, with a small-car segment market share of 5.5% in February 2005.
