CARMARTHENSHIRE-raised singer-songwriter Elysian has set herself apart from her Welsh contemporaries with a new slinky brand of garage rock.
Both a multi-instrumentalist and incisive lyricist, she's built a band about her distinctive talent which is now due to release its debut record. Over You was put out this week on Monday, May 2 on the singer's own label, Elysian Records.
It was recorded by top producer Matt Hyde who has worked with the likes of Razorlight and Funeral For A Friend.
The sound is raw and powerful yet is more rural than urban which is probably due to the band's country roots.
However, like Far From The Madding Crowd, Over You is no backwater amble - it's as demanding a piece of rock art as on offer in Newport this week.
B sides Believe Me and Tomorrow complement the lead track perfectly with more bite and touches of heavy metal and all out rock.
However, it's Elysian's distinctive vocals which make Over You such a good record.
Weird like Cerys Matthews, belting like Shirley Bassey, Elysian has the tonsils and lungs to make it big in rock. Help her by buying her debut single - out now.
Elysian play Fiddlers, Bristol on Friday, May 20. For more information surf to www.elysianrecords.com.
