ON April 17, Renault will kick off its second decade as Official Vehicle Supplier to the Flora London Marathon 2005, providing Master Vans and Grand Espaces to the UK's number one road race.
Renault will provide 14 Grand Espaces to carry media, VIPs and the organising committee. Additionally, four specially converted Renault Master vans will fulfil the crucial role of lead vehicles and photographers' transport for each event. Based on the existing Renault Master chassis cab, the purpose-designed bodywork was made specifically to the requirements of the Flora London Marathon team.
The Renault Master lead vehicles include rear-facing seats for officials and media. The Master vans also have internal storage and housings for timing and communications equipment. FLM race director, Dave Bedford, has described them as "the best lead vehicles of any marathon in the world".
Just because Renault is a car company, does not mean that employees are not fit! Renault has six places in the marathon, with runners from several departments at Renault UK all taking part to help raise money for the company's headline charity, Barnardo's.
