Britons are paying up to £237 more than German and Dutch holidaymakers for exactly the same trip, Holiday Which? magazine said today. A holiday with Thomson Holidays to the Spanish island of Gran Canaria is offered for £760, the magazine said.

Thomson's German parent company Tui offers the same trip for £575 in Germany and only £523 in the Netherlands.

Holiday Which? said it could find no reason why the British-booked package cost so much more, as it was the same departure date, same flight time, same hotel and same standard room.

German trippers even get a free return rail journey to the airport. The magazine added that as well as better pricing, those in the Netherlands and Germany got brochures which were more informative and better laid out, and easy-to-use pricing booklet.

Holiday Which? said that when it contacted Tui, the company replied that the differences were the result of the varying costs of the different Tui companies.
