CWMBRAN/Newport duo Mainstream Distortion is looking for a bassist to complete a vicious trinity.

The band mix metal and industrial mayhem in a world which echoes dark-wave techno and John Carpenter soundtracks.

Pounding beats sound off over menacing soundscapes beneath whispered, croaky vocal lines akin to Nine Inch Nails.

Electronics wizard Matt and axe-master Craig have just finished their second album after scrapping their first.

Based in homemade studios and local Newport dens, as Mainstream Distortion they have been developing.

The band has received record industry interest from Some Bizarre Records of Soft Cell fame and John Friar (Nine Inch Nails).

A video is in production with Alex Chandon who has previously worked with Cradle Of Filth and Cradle Of Fear.

"We need to showcase live to these people and to do that we need a third member," says Craig.

Without a decent bassist the promise Mainstream Distortion are showing in the studio might never make it out the front door.

So if you are a bassist or just a music lover interested in Mainstream Distortion then Diverse Records in Newport and Sean's Piercing Parlour in Cwmbran have one of 100 free demos for you.

Alternatively, there are plenty of MP3s for you to download from www.mainstreamdistortion.com.

The CD will be officially launched at a Mainstream Distortion event in May. The band calls its live gigs - Fab'n'Kinky Promotions.
