NEWPORT woman Emma Williams will be going that extra mile to raise money for charity this April, when she competes in this year's London Marathon to raise money for NCH Cymru.
The National Assembly worker from York Place, Stow Hill, has been busy overcoming a leg injury and running up to 22 miles a day in preparation for this year's Flora Marathon on April 17.
Emma, who is being sponsored by Newport's FWD law associates for the event, said: "This is my first London marathon, and the prospect of completing the event is a bit daunting.
"A few weeks ago I injured my leg, so my husband had to provide a road-side recovery service and ferry me home.
"There'll be no chance of a lift on the big day, though."
The children's charity NCH helps children and young people facing difficulties and challenges in their lives, such as poverty, disability and abuse.
As well as its Newport offices on Stow Park Circle, which deal with fostering and family group conferencing, the charity has 60 projects across Wales catering for the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
NCH Cymru fundraiser Gill Ford said: "It's great news that Emma is literally going the extra mile for disadvantaged children in her area. "Supporters of NCH from all over Britain will be shouting her on as she runs through the streets and parks of London."
