Newport Wasps can expect a hard time from Reading who open the Premier League double header at Hayley Stadium tomorrow afternoon (tapes up 2.30pm), writes Ray Parker.

Berwick provide the opposition for the second meeting as Wasps bid to follow-up the success of last weekend when they overcame Glasgow.

And there is added Welsh interest with Phil Morris leading Reading's challenge and Newport-born Jamie Westacott, having forced his way into the visitors' line-up, occupying one of the reserve berths.

Morris, who rode for Gislaved in the Swedish League this week, said: "We are battling with Workington for second place behind champions Hull. I am sure we can win our two remaining home matches. We will be looking to get something at Newport, but we know it will not be easy.

"Newport had a good win over Glasgow last week and they will want to finish the season on a high. We will be going for a win but we won't be taking anything for granted."

The experienced Morris, who lives in Cwmfelinfach, has taken teenager Westacott, who rides Conference League with GMB Mavericks, under his wing. Morris said: "He has done really well in the two Premier League meetings with us. He is using one of my engines and although he has gone up and down in his first season he is going well at the moment."

Wasps' young Dane, Mads Korneliussen, goes for glory in the world under-21 final in Poland tonight but he'll back for tomorrow's double header.

Reading's Matej Zagar rides in the same meeting but the Racers will have Mark Lemon guesting. Reading have been strengthened by the recent return from injury of Danny Bird.

Wasps' promoter Tim Stone said: "Both the Wasps and Mavericks rode well last week and there was a great atmosphere in the pits. It was good to see everyone enjoying themselves.

"It is a very attractive double header and other promoters have agreed that the prices represent great value for money."

Although Sunday's matches bring the curtain down on home Premier League meetings, there is still plenty of action left, including an under-21 international, Conference League meetings and sidecars.

But there will not be a meeting next Sunday because of the Premier League Riders Championship being staged at Sheffield, with Wasps' skipper Craig Watson seeking another major title.

* Adult admission for the double header will be £16 and concession tickets are £10.50, £5 for children.
