A TEENAGER has died after being in collision with a motorbike just a day after her 14th birthday.
Laurie Roberts was walking near Rogerstone and Bassaleg Community Cemetery on Pen-y-Lan Road, Bassaleg yesterday afternoon when the accident happened.
She was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital but died shortly after. The motorcyclist was also taken to hospital where he remained today. Laurie had celebrated her 14th birthday on Sunday.
Inspector Gareth Beak, of Gwent Police, said the rider remained in hospital receiving treatment for injuries which he said were non life-threatening.
It is not yet known how the accident happened.
The road was closed until 9.30 pm yesterday.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information on the collision, which happened at 3pm, to contact them on 01633 838111.
