A TORFAEN nine year old has cooked up a scheme to raise cash for charity by baking cakes and selling them at school.

Olivia Thatcher, of Longhouse Grove, Henllys, who lost her grandfather to cancer last year, has had help from friends at Llanyravon Primary - and plenty of customers.

She will be giving all the money she makes to Cancer Research.

Olivia said: "I've been selling sponge cakes and biscuits all week and so far I've raised about £40.

"I like making cakes and people at school like buying them. They're only 10p so people have been buying them instead of an apple or crisps.

"I've been making them every day and some of my friends have helped by making them one or two days

"Last year my grancha died of cancer so I thought it would be nice to raise some money for Cancer Research

"My sister's been in a police cell for sponsorship money and I wanted to do something as well."
