A massive effort is about to be launched to keep Steve Hansen as Wales coach and extend his contract way beyond the end of this season's Six Nations Championship.
Hansen accepted the Wales job for two-and-half years and has always insisted that would be it. He would stay no longer.
At least three times during the World Cup Hansen insisted he would not change his mind, even as Welsh successes grew and even English reporters asked him the same question.
He had promised his two teenage daughters back in New Zealand that he would return to them when his contract was up, and he has always said his family is more important than rugby.
However, the completely unexpected success in the World Cup and the euphoria surrounding the exhilarating displays against New Zealand and England has changed the picture considerably.
Hansen will now come under heavy pressure to stay.
There is suddenly a glut of talent coming through for future Wales squads. Shane Williams, for example, has been little short of sensational.
Now few people can wait for the Six Nations in the new year, wanting more from this revived Welsh team which has shocked the rugby world.
