PUPILS and staff in a Valleys primary school turned the clock back 150 years yesterday for their harvest festival.
Victorian costumes were worn by staff and pupils of Cwm Gwyddon School, in Abercarn, as the 150th birthday of the neighbouring Welsh chapel was celebrated.
Over the years, the school has been closely linked with the Welsh chapel built by Lady Llanover, who was also known as Augusta Hall.
The church is depicted on Cwm Gwyddon's emblem.
Linda Jones, the school secretary, said: "We thought it would be nice if the children dressed as they would have 150 years ago to mark the occasion.
"It was an absolutely brilliant day and the children have really enjoyed it."
