Film listings until August 28:
Dragonflies
Friday, August 22 to Thursday, August 28. Dragonflies is an intense psychological thriller from Norway and an intricate portrait of love and harmony. The film is the story of Eddie and Marie, a couple running away from their past in a desperate bid to put their criminal activities behind them. One day Eddie's old friend Kullman, recently released from a long prison sentence for a crime committed with Eddie, arrives, and their world is turned on its head.
Mon-Rak Transistor
Saturday, August 23 to Thursday, August 28. From the producers of Tears of the Black Tiger comes the perfect summer movie - a potent blend of Elvis-style musical, love story and poisonous social satire in Hysteric Glamour T-shirts.
Pan is a country boy newly wed to his first love, Sadaw, when he's signed up for military service. Success in a local talent contest turns Pan's head and he goes AWOL to pursue his dream, but instead finds himself fending off the advances of his predatory manager. As Sadaw is seduced by a smooth-talking worm tablet salesman, Pan finds himself on a downward spiral. Mon-Rak Transistor was a hit at the 2002 Cannes Festival, confirming Pen-ek as the young pretender to Wong Kar-Wai.
