A RAUNCHY charity calendar featuring 12 Abergavenny market traders has been flying off the shelves in its first week of release.
The calendar, which has been in the planning stages for months, was released at a special party in the Market Hall ten days ago - and in its first week on sale the calendar sold up to 100 copies a day.
Organiser Karen Reed said: "The response to the calendars has been amazing. They have been flying out of the shops.
"Everybody seems to be buying them, families and friends, and local people coming into the market.
"All the girls are being asked to sign copies of the calendar, and it has been great.
"At the end of the day everything is for charity, but I am pleased that everyone likes it.
"I think they have been surprised at the quality of the calendar, but a lot of people have come up to me and congratulated us on doing it.
"Most people think that it is a classy calendar and are pleased with the way it has turned out."
Ms Reed said she had started planning a calendar for next year, based on the men in Abergavenny Market.
She said: "Next year's calendar is already in planning with me, asking men to take part.
"I want to do something different every year now we have had such success with this."
l The calendar will raise money for the Noah's Ark Appeal and St David's Foundation Hospice Care. It costs £3.95 and is available from Abergavenny Market, Abergavenny Tourist Information, and Richards and Staceys in Abergavenny.
