In an attempt to tap into a youthful market, Peugeot think they've found the right partner with Quiksilver, the surf and snowboard apparel manufacturer. The latest 206 Quiksilver models are well worth a look, even if the only board you ever get to grips with is whilst ironing.

Designed to be a budget sporting model, the Quiksilver hatch is available solely with the three-door bodyshell, and three engines are on offer, 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol units and the punchy 2.0-litre HDi diesel engine. Finished in metallic Aluminium, the Quiksilver features body coloured door mirrors, handles and bumpers as well as 15-inch alloy wheels. Air conditioning and a CD stereo, the two must haves' for any self respecting special edition, are present and correct as are sports seats, Quiksilver badging and branded seat cloth, aluminium pedals, gearknob and fuel filler cap. Prices start at £11,295 for the 1.4-litre car, rising to £12,225 for the 2.0-litre HDi model.

Should you need a little extra versatility, the 206 SW Quiksilver may well appeal. Based on the 1.6 XSi and 2.0-litre HDi Dturbo models, the SW version offers the same extras as its hatchback sibling bar some 16-inch alloy wheels and chrome effect roof bars. Prices start at £12,295 on the road.

For those who may only ever get as far as surfing the net, here's an inexpensive way to make a quietly cool statement. So far the Quiksilver association has stood up to the test of time and the ravages of fashion pretty robustly.

The Peugeot 206 Quiksilver range now extends to the 206SW variant as well as the hatchback original. Surf up or dead calm?
