A NEWPORT community came together to celebrate racial equality.
Residents in Pill gathered at the Millennium Centre, Courtabella Terrace, a year after Newport city council launched its racial equality scheme.
The plan aimed to encourage harmony throughout the community and among its different ethnic groups.
Visitors met on Saturday afternoon to join in workshops and discuss the project's progress with council officials.
Residents were also updated on promotional work organised by the council.
The event featured workshops, exhibitions, stands, music events and competitions.
Chris Freegard, managing director of the city council, said the local authority was keen to boost a balance in the city and a robust policy had been adopted.
He said: "We want to find out how well residents believe we're doing.
"It's essential to have the input of the people directly affected by this scheme as it forms an invaluable part of the work being done.
"Diversity in the community is something we are keen to celebrate and we want residents to have a say."
