NEWPORT'S Wales Sevens captain Jason Forster is out of the side for this weekend's Twickenham finale to the International Board world series.

Forster suffered an ankle injury in the Millennium Stadium leg of the series last weekend after his late call-up when his three-months ban for stamping was reduced to six weeks.

He is replaced in the squad by another Newport back row forward, Rhys Jones.

He will join fellow Newport players Andy Powell, Jonathan Pritchard and Ben Breeze in the Welsh squad.

Wales performed superbly on the first day in Cardiff, beating one of the favourites England, as well as France and Russia.

But then they fell away on the second day and were beaten by Argentina and Australia. They face Australia again on Friday in the Twickenham event, followed by Samoa and Spain.

That could bring the curtain down on Wales' involvement in future sevens tournaments because the Welsh Rugby Union are so cash-strapped.

It has already been decided that Wales will not host any more sevens tournaments because they are such big loss-makers.

"Wales won't be hosting any more because of the financial losses, we'll have to wait and see whether we compete again," said Wales Sevens manager Mal Beynon of Brynmawr.

"It gives the opportunity for players to meet the best in the world, and I'm confident it shows the strengths or weaknesses in any player.

"But because of financial problems it's going to be difficult to compete in the future."
