A BLACKWOOD pensioner who disappeared from her home four days ago is still missing today.
Search and rescue teams and a police helicopter combed the countryside around the home of 69-year-old Eirwen Jones at the weekend.
But they found no trace of Mrs Jones, who lives in Cardigan Way, Grove Park, with her 78-year-old husband Islwyn.
The search concentrated on the Blackwood, Cwmgelli, Markham and Argoed areas. It is now hoped the public may be able to help find Mrs Jones, who is said to have suffered from depression for several years.
Blackwood police received two reported sightings of her over the weekend, but both turned out to be false.
Her brother and sister-in-law, William and Caroline Jenkins of Manmoel, appealed for Mrs Jones to come home or to contact them. Yesterday Mrs Jenkins said: "We seem to have reached a stalemate at the moment."
She added local people had been searching their farm outbuildings in Manmoel, where Mrs Jones comes from originally, in case she had returned to the area.
Mrs Jones is described as 5ft 5in tall, with grey hair and blue eyes and of medium build. Police are not treating her disappearance as suspicious.
