Test trading, where a business assesses its chances of making money before launching big time, is counting many successes in Gwent.
One of the latest is jeweller Jules Cox, pictured, now running a shop in Cardiff after displaying and selling her wares in Newport Indoor Market.
She is also doing lots of busines on the Internet.
As already reported, a group of artists has set up a business together at a studio-gallery in Newport after taking part in the same Taste of Enterprise venture at the market on Saturdays.
Jules, 27, met Newport and Gwent Enterprise adviser Carmel Barry at a Women in Business workshop in Cardiff, who suggested the market idea.
That was six months ago and now Jules has opened her shop in Canton.
Jules said: "What I learned at Newport Makeet gave me a taste of enterprise and the confidence and knowledge to start something for myself."
The final test-trade artists showcase at the market is from tomorrow (Wednesday) to Saturday, before the market closes for refurbishing.
N&GE is planning similar schemes at other venues, including Monmouthshire.
