WALES' newest city has a new club to boast of, opening soon on Newport's live music street, Clarence Place.

Newport City Live Arena (NCLA) has been made in the shell of the derelict Odeon Cinema on that street and should be ready to open by the end of November.

It has been developed as a multi purpose event and performance centre with a view to attracting live bands and holding nights themed around folk, comedy, jazz and dance. The owners also claim the venue has a stage large enough (34ft x 24ft) to hold theatrical and dance productions.

Conferences will also be catered for with a 1400 capacity over two floors with food and drink available.

The jack of all trades is owned by Newport based leisure business P2 who bought it in March 2002.
