PROUD Wales boss Mark Hughes toasted every one of his heroes last night but was also quick to deliver them with an early Euro warning, writes Carson Wishart.

"This campaign has seen us make the perfect start," said Hughes who's team sit at the top of Group Nine.

"The secret is now to keep our heads and make sure we can get results during our next two games or all this hard work will be undone.

"We will enjoy tonight and then we're starting looking at the Azerbaijan and Yugoslavia games."

His side face a potentially tricky trip to Azerbaijan at the end of November and then travel to Yugoslavaia next April.

But Hughes feels that if his players keep their focus on the job in hand, they'll have nothing to fear.

"I felt for a long time that they were capable of a performance like this," he smiled.

"The players excelled themselves. It was as good an attacking performance as I've seen from a Welsh side."

He added: "This is a wonderful feeling and hope they will be more nights like this. I always thought that we could win.

"That's not to disrespect our opponents but I just felt we had the weapons to cause them problems.

"We put on a great performance in Helsinki but that work would be have been for nothing if we hadn't got something out of this game. The players should feel proud and go back to their clubs wearing their shirts. I knew I used to!"
