FORMER Wales, Ebbw Vale, Gloucester and Cross Keys captain Kingsley Jones is hoping his return to Pandy Park will help him kick-star his career back in Wales, writes Paul Tully.

The tireless flanker had four years playing in England before signing for Premier Division Pontypridd, but has seen precious little first team action there.

So he offered his services on dual contract to Cross Keys and hopes he and the club will benefit.

"I signed for Pontypridd believing I would play some rugby, but it hasn't happened. I haven't had a start," he said.

"I feel I'm as fit as I've ever been and I don't believe my rugby has gone backwards.

"I've just had two twenty minutes pre-season and seven minutes last week and 15 minutes the week before since April 6. I'm not very happy about that.

"Basically I want to play, so when I realised I wasn't going to be involved with Pontypridd again this weekend I rang up David Rees and asked if there was any chance of getting a game for Cross Keys.

"They have some injury problems in the back row and it may work out well for me.

"Apart from Ebbw Vale and possibly Pontypool I wouldn't have joined any other club other than Cross Keys.

"I captained them for two seasons and had some great times at Pandy Park.

"I don't want to let myself or Cross Keys down. I've got a reputation I suppose and I'll put everything into it.

"But Cross Keys have a superb back row and I don't expect to walk into the team. "I don't want David Rees to drop any of his regular players for me, but I think I can offer them something and perhaps improve the team a little bit."
