POLICE in Chepstow are searching for a flasher who exposed himself to two teenage girls as they walked back to school during their lunch break.

The girls were said to be upset and shaken by the incident which took place in Welsh Street.

Police say they are particularly concerned as the incident took place within yards of a comprehensive school, community leisure complex and The Dell primary school. The girls, who are pupils at Chepstow Comprehensive School (pictured), had been walking through the busy residential area at around 2pm at the end of their lunch break last Wednesday.

As they approached the exit of Chepstow Leisure Centre, they noticed a man following them.

He overtook the girls, walked back towards them and then exposed himself. The man is described as being white, between 5ft. 10in. and 6ft., of proportionate build with dark gelled hair. He was wearing a burgundy polo shirt, navy blue tracksuit bottoms or elastic waisted trousers and dark trainers or shoes.

The girls describe him as looking like a builder or labourer and he was carrying a black folder or clip board.

Chepstow police say that, due to the time of the incident, other people may also have seen the offence.

Police Constable Mike Roy said: "We are particularly concerned about this incident owing to the fact that it occurred in broad day light, outside a comprehensive school and a leisure complex.

"The two girls concerned were shocked by what they had seen and immediately reported the incident to their teachers.

"Although it is believed the man did not say anything or try to entice the girls to do anything, we are extremely worried the actions of the man may lead to further acts of indecency."

Chepstow Comprehensive school says it is also taking the matter seriously. Jacqui Long, head of the sixth form, said: "The school takes this very seriously and the girls were very shaken."
