FILM fans in Blaenau Gwent will enjoy a totally new sound and visual experience in a visit to the Market Hall Cinema, Brynmawr.

The cinema's 25-year-old audio and projection equipment has been replaced with state-of-the- art Dolby Digital Sound and a new projector to rival any multiplex cinema and enhance the entire viewing experience.

Dolby Digital ensures that the audience can benefit from crystal-clear digital surround-sound from six separate channels. Left, centre and right channels in front of the audience provide precise, clear positioning of dialogue.

Separate left and right surround channels on the side and in the rear immerse an audience in the film with atmospherics and ambient sounds.

And a subwoofer/bass- effects channel contributes extra punch to action and special effects sequences.

The Market Hall Cinema is one of the few local authority-run cinemas in Wales and has first-release status on films.

The overall £60,000 investment to replace the sound system and projector was funded 75% by the Arts Council for Wales and with the remainder coming from Blaenau Gwent county borough council.

New and existing customers are assured of a new viewing experience during their next visit to the Market Hall Cinema.

Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones is showing at the Market Hall Cinema from Thursday, May 16. The box office is on 01495 310576 for showing times.
