WALES prop Iestyn Thomas is a step closer to joining Welsh-Scottish League champions Llanelli early next week after parting ways with Ebbw Vale.
Thomas, with Vale for five seasons, has told director of rugby Ray Harris that he will not re-signing his contract with the Steelmen and the 25-year-old is expected to complete negotiations with the Stradey Park club next week.
The prop, who has won 12 caps, is currently with the Wales squad preparing for their tour to South Africa, which leaves on May 31, and said he was not in negotiation with any other club apart from Llanelli, but had yet to make a final decision.
Elsewhere, the Steelmen are waiting to hear if South African lock Ockert Booyse will stay at Eugene Cross Park and resign his contract.Vale have also captured the signature of full-back Richard Davies from English side Rugby.
