HISTORY is set to come to life around Gwent this Easter.

If you fancy experiencing the turbulent times of the late 14th and early 15th centuries, you could head for Chepstow Castle.

There, The Company of Chivalry, pictured, will portray the lives of knights, squires, soldiers, and the retinue of John Plantagenet, Duke of Lancaster.

Craftsmen and women including a leatherworker, clothier, moneyer and physician will also be on hand to discuss their skills, and there will be demonstrations of arms, armour and use of artefacts.

At Raglan Castle, the Dalbier Regiment is set to entertain visitors with 17th-century military displays, incorporating a range of artillery pieces from different periods.

And at Tintern Abbey, living history group Chance Encounters promises to bring the religious house back to life with a medieval mystery set around the Dissolution of the Monasteries between 1536 and 1540.

The events are all part of Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments' 2002 programme.

* All the events run on Saturday, Easter Day and Easter Monday between 12pm and 4pm.
