PANDY Park coach David Rees (pictured) took Cross Keys to a Principality Cup semi-final against Swansea only 32 months ago, but the competition is not a priority this season.

"As far as I'm concerned tomorrow's fifth round clash at home to Narberth is just another game," he said.

"With Cross Keys lying where they are in the Welsh First Division (11th) we have to be focused on the league and really I'm looking ahead more to our game with Rhymney on Boxing Day.

"Narberth is another game in our development which we hope to continue into the new year.

"There is light at the end of the tunnel. We are beginning to see patterns of play developing and last week's win over Dunvant showed we have made progress.

"We gave away two silly tries in a game we dominated and three weeks ago we would have lost concentration and shape and probably the game."

Narberth team manager Robert Lewis says the game is "an ideal opportunity to assess how close we are to competing at Division One level if we continue our present form and clinch promotion".

But Rees dismisses that assertion as "the oldest cliche in the book", adding: "Cup games are one-offs and in no way provide any guide to future league progress. "Playing in Division One week in, week out is a different kettle of fish to playing in Division Two. "It's a tough division and you can only be judged by playing in it, not by a one-off cup tie." However, he adds: "It will be a tough game with Narberth riding high on top of Division Two. "They will probably be very similar to Division One sides in that they will be very much forward orientated."

David Rees misses tomorrow's match as he is getting married. Gethin Worgan is given an outing at full back while second row Chris Penny returns after suspension.
