BATH rugby club's official photographer is appealing for the return of a £5,000 camera lens stolen during their match with the Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade.

Charles Williamson's Canon 400 2.8mm lens was stolen as he downloaded images on to his laptop after the Dragons' 20-14 win on August 27.

He said he believes an opportunist thief took advantage when he dropped his guard. "I had to use a waterproof cover over my head to help me download the images on my laptop because of the sunlight."?

Mr Williamson left his lens just a metre away near advertising hoardings.? He added: "I don't think a real fan would have stolen it and it's completely useless to the ordinary person.

"Afterwards the people at the Dragons and the police were fantastic and incredibly helpful to me."

If anyone has any information or can return the lens, contact PC Sally Zerk at Newport's Maindee police station on 01633 838111.
