NEWPORT's two-and-a-half-year-old Welsh Premier Division ground record will come under heavy fire when Swansea visit Rodney Parade tomorrow. Swansea have got former Newport forwards Darren Davies and Nick Kelly in their ranks and word has come down the line that they are out to take Newport's record.

"They play some great, open and expansive rugby and they've got a couple of our old boys who know all about us," said Newport coach David Rees.

"We've got this ground record and everyone wants that, we know Swansea do. But we're not conscious of that, we just want to win anyway, though it would be nice to build up a fortress again."

Rees has rung the changes up front from last week's opening day win against Glamorgan Wanderers at Ely. It's all change in the back row where new signing, Wales Under-21 cap Chris Davies, Richard Dale and Paul Williams replace Marc Popham, Rhys Jones and Sam Waldron, Rees explaining "They've all got equal ability but it's early days yet and we've got to make sure they get game time."

In the front row Gethin Robinson and Gareth McCarthy replace Leighton Jones and Phil Osborne, who are both unfit.

The only change behind is at full back where Ricky Williams replaces Daniel Griffiths who is concentrating on the number 15 jersey this season after previously playing at outside half, a position now held by Aled Thomas.
