Newport Gwent Dragons must step up to the mark next week when they face a daunting double against Celtic League champions the Ospreys and third placed Leinster in the space of three days, both away.

The Dragons have won all their four games so far, three of them pre-season friendlies, and are sitting at the top of the league table after just one game, with the added bonus of four more points to go with the four they already have for not actually playing this weekend.

"We acquitted ourselves well against Bath and we came off the ropes against Glasgow, though their final try was clearly offside," said Turner, referring to winger Mike Roberts being in front of the ball when he chased the kick ahead for a last gasp try.

"But now we need to take another step and it's going to be a big test for our group as a whole. I'd like to get something out of the two games and only two good performances will do that.

"I'd also like to get through it without any major injury," he added in a reference to their growing problems, with wing Richard Fussell and lock Bryn Griffiths the latest victims.

"I watched the Ospreys and Leinster quite a bit last year and we're going to have to play well and get certain parts of our game in much better order than we did in Glasgow.

"Our set piece improved as as it went on and our ball control and appreciation of the game improved which is why we won.

"The group are growing almost overnight and we're hopefully on a roll. Next week is going to be a good challenge for us.

"The Ospreys are still smarting after a relatively poor performance against Leinster (they face Munster in Cork on Saturday) so they will be targeting our game."

Turner says he expects to field the majority of the team who beat Glasgow for the first game next week against the Ospreys on Tuesday night.

"We'll tinker with certain positions in the team, but the basis of the side will be the one which beat Glasgow," he said.

"But I'm not really thinking of the Leinster game (in Dublin next Friday night) until we get the Ospreys match out of the way."

Turner is expecting the Ospreys game to be a confrontation, and he will warn his team about what they can expect. He will also tell them to meet fire with fire.

"It's going to be a physical battle on Tuesday night and it will sort out the men from the boys," he predicted.

"We all know the Ospreys are a physical bunch and we need to match them in that department. These are places where we've got to perform if we want to go on to the next stage."
